As Artists, your first loyalty is to your artwork.

Artspan's first loyalty has been to it's members.

It has been an exciting journey for Artspan with much to look forward to in the future. We have seen wonderful art by very talented artists and cannot wait to see more in the coming years.

We have been honored to give our members the platform and resources to achieve their goals. This month we give a special thanks and nod of appreciation to these long time members for being with us from the begining.

Florence Moonan

The driving force behind Florence's work is a narrative drawn from her personal history, the natural world, travel experiences, and above all, music. She appeared to be headed in the direction of theater as a young member of the Lambertville Music Circus, but ideas of performing merged into painting after her father gave her a set of acrylics. Her creative process involves tapping into her instincts to discover and create an expressive language using color and texture.

I have always strived to test my skills, imagination and patience with each

painting/project I engage in. I enjoy having contrasting styles within my work. I feel that the use of these styles helps me to develop my sense of color, form, and composition. Most of my work requires a lot of time (preparatory black & white sketches, color studies). However other paintings are done directly onto the canvas without any sketches.”

Myles Cavanaugh

Myles Cavanaugh is a Contemporary American Artist based in the bucolic Delaware River Valley. Born in 1974 to an artistic family, Cavanaugh draws inspiration and influence from both the beauty and mechanics of nature and human form. While Cavanaugh humbly identifies with his homebase Bucks County Impressionists, the breath of his creativity defies titles and borders.

"Beauty and power of place inspire my work and the energy of contrast enlivens it. I am drawn to both the dramatic and the subtle. I seek to capture the essence peculiar to a moment and an environment. It is this personal interpretation of moments in nature, intimate and reflective, that is thematically consistent throughout my work. The results are images sometimes symbolic and mythical, sometimes meditative, and sometimes purely aesthetic".

"I am inspired by the natural world and its human inhabitants in many cultures. Whether it be exploring exotic lands, exquisite flora or benignly neglected places, my ever-ready camera is my sketchbook. In the studio, I find it exciting to alternate and mix mediums. My work, no doubt, brings a female perspective to it. Be it in collage, photography, encaustics, painting or printmaking, it is almost always layered, both in technique and meaning".

When Are Your Coming Home?

My work is a contemporary statement worn by the elements. I am interested in texture with hidden images, movement and age. I love discarded old things, deserted places and damp basements… stones and cracked walls overgrown with nature… mysterious places where wild animals live.

Sandra Flood, is a full-time, self taught oil painter who's work has been received with enormous popularity over recent years.

Her work is primarily figurative, imbued with subtle yet compelling emotion.

"Painting has been for me a visual autobiography. I have recorded scenes and events that impressed and excited me. Often these have been quiet situations that otherwise might be overlooked. Wherever I travel I am on the lookout for the beauty and drama of the scene around me".
