"Child's Quilt"
CHILD'S QUILT is a mixed media, 30x36 work on stretched canvas. It is made with 20 actual found cabinet card photos. They have been painted and mounted on a acrylic painted background. The chosen words are what I think most children might do. If they were modern children, maybe I'd replace obey and add "techie."
The colors are bright pink, orange, green and yellow on a navy background. I added common cerulean sky to each card to unify the whole. The child range from newborn to maybe eight or so. The fashions themselves are worth the price of admission!
Two other graphically similar mixed media quilts in the series (one male, one female) were bought in a show called "35 Artists of North America." It was curated by Thomas Krens, former head of the Guggenheim Museum in NYC. Unfortunately, I had not completed the children in time for the exhibit in North Adams, Mass.
